How to Report Suspected abuse
What to report.
Anything that you believe might be causing suffering to Parrots. This might include such things as:
Classified adverts (online or in publications) offering un-weaned babies for sale. Websites displaying or promoting cruelty to parrots or giving misleading information that may be detrimental to parrots. Email scams that offer parrots or their eggs for sale from abroad. Being concerned about cruelty or neglect in pet shops, at breeders, or with individual owners. Sadly the list is endless, but if you have any concerns you can report them to us.
How to report.
Please visit our Forum Here
You need to register with the boards which only takes 2 minutes
Please PM 2cay2 (Green PM button situated at the bottom of each post) with as much information as possible. Let us know what your concerns are. For online issues please send a link. If you know the name or address of the person/people involved then please give us their details.
Any information you send us will not be made available to forum members, so you can report your concerns to us with confidence.
What we do.
We will assess the information you give us. If we agree that suffering may be occurring we will inform the relevant authorities. This may be the Police, RSPCA, trading standards, local authorities, hosting websites, etc.
What we don't do.
We do not have any 'hands on' involvement with the cases. Any action against the people reported will be taken up by the relevant authorities at their discretion and not by UKPR.
Section rules.
In an emergency please report direct to the police, RSPCA etc. yourself. You can still report here afterwards as well.
Do not post reports of suspected suffering directly to the boards. Please PM to 2cay2 only.
Do not cut and paste adverts and post them on the boards neither should you post links and in no circumstances should you post personal details including usernames or abbreviations of such.
Posts that do not comply with these rules will be removed. Members that continue to ignore the rules with be given warnings and banned if deemed necessary.
UKPR may add to these rules without notice.
The rules are very important. They are only here to protect UKPR and it's members from malicious use of the section. You can express your general views on cruelty and suffering elsewhere on the forum.
What's the point?
Suffering continues to happen unless it is stopped. It NEEDS to be reported to bring it to an end.
Not all suffering is deliberate, sometimes it is caused by ignorance. For example a owner who loves his parrot might not realise that he is killing it slowly by feeding it salted peanuts or smoking in the same room as it. By bringing this to the attention of those that can help, this parrot will live a longer healthier life and the owner will be eternally grateful for what he has learned.
