Fostering a bird
If you would like to be considered for fostering, you need to either register yourself on our forums, where details can be found on how to apply in our fostering section .
You can email one of the admin team, who will be happy to forward a copy of our fostering proposal to you,or if you prefer,we can post one to you to fill in if needed.
*please note we cannot consider any offers of rehoming unless you have correctly filled out and returned your fostering proposal*
How to Apply-
The fostering proposal contains a questionaire for you to fill in,Assuming that your assessment for fostering is successful,we may arrange for a homechecker to come and visit you,(although we may not do this until either you have put yourself forward for a particular bird,or we think we may have found a bird for you)this is the time when you will be talked through our fostering procedure and given the oppurtunity to view our UK Parrot Rescue duty of care fostering contract, (you will not need to sign this yet) to make sure you fully understand the obligations you will need to adhere to.
failure to adhere to obligations, could result in your bird being returned to the rescue
so this is very important, this homecheck is our oppurtunity to make our final assesment on your suitability as a fosterer, and your oppurtunity to ask any questions you may have,(the homecheck fee will need to be paid at the time of the homecheck to the homechecker)you will not know the outcome of this assesment until the homechecker has reported thier findings to the rest of the team.
when the particular bird you have an interest in has its new home decided your application and homecheck outcome will be vital information to select the right home. should you be succesful.
If your circumstances change ie: your change address or you have a baby before any bird leaves the care of the rescue, it is the fosterers responsibility to be registered with a qualified avian vet, and to have insurance to cover any medical care, failure to do this will be in breech of your contract.
We do require a minimum donation before you receive your bird, this amount will vary from species to species, but you will be made aware of the amount required before any arrangments for the handing over of the bird are made.
We are sure, that you and your bird will have many happy years together, and UK Parrot Rescue would like to thank you for making a difference
